The Commission of Detainees  Affairs stated in a report issued today, that both detainees Saif Hamdan and Saleh Rabaya joined the hunger strike, in a protest against their administrative detention, to be 13 detainees on hunger strike.

The advocate of the Commission, Mutaz Shqairat, stated that the detainee Saif Hamdan,  29, from Nablus,  started his hunger strike in 30/7/2023, protesting against his administrative detention. He has been detained since 4/10/2022 , and sentenced to 6 months of imprisonment, but the court extended his detention to 4 months.

With regard to the detainee Saleh Rabaya, 22, from Jenin,  he joined the hunger strike in 30/7/2023.

He was detained in 2/8/2023, and sentenced to 3 months of administrative detention, and then the court extended his detention to 3 months.

In response,  the administration of prisons confiscated all their clothes and belongings, and gave them mattresses twice during 14 days, from 10:00 pm _ 6:00 am.

It is worthy to mention that the administrative detainees on hunger strike are boycotting all checkups and clinics,  and only drink water.

Administrative detention is implemented against detainees without charge or trial, which is based on confidential file and evidences,  that nor the detainee neither his lawyer have access to the case.

The occupation authorities resort to administrative detention as a means of psychological torture, which is considered war crime contradicts Rome Convention, that criminalize depriving any war captive of his right to have a fair trial.
